Birthday cake tastes better with a friend. If a toddler can have a cake smash, why not a dog? These two love any and all things fun related, particularly birthday cake made with meat and mashed potatoes. Thanks to Edmonton’s Doggy Style Deli for the very cute (and apparently very delicious) doggy cakes.

One reason why I love photographing people is to meet new people, and make new friends. What I love even more is re-connecting with an old friend.

M and I go way back. I was so flattered and excited when she and her charming hubby asked me to photograph them with their new pup. He’s going to be a big and beautiful boy, with 3 big sisters to watch over him (and he them). I can’t wait to see how big he gets! Dad is one lucky guy to be surrounded by such smart and beautiful girls. Now he’s got a male parter in crime. He’ll have to recruit a couple of other male pups to even out the ratio.

It’s such a pleasure to watch the B girls grow and to have spent some time with this fun and loving crew. I can’t wait for more laughs with them down the road. Thanks guys for spending a March afternoon with me.

Owen is one lucky little man, and so am I. I had the privilege of meeting Owen when he was just 16 days old.

He has two of the loveliest, funnest, and most clever parents around. He lives in a home that his mom and dad lovingly renovated themselves while they were eagerly anticipating his arrival. His best friend and furry protector and nap-watchman, George, is never far away. I’m excited to watch you grow Owen, and to see your smile on the ulti-field sideline this summer.

Have you ever wanted to smoosh your face, hands and toes into your birthday cake? It’s fun at any age, but perhaps most socially acceptable when you turn one. My first cake smash was with beautiful and clever little Alex, and it was a lot of fun. We discovered that cats also like birthday cake, particularly if it’s pink. Happy birthday Alex!

I had the pleasure of photographing Mr. CC – one of the newest guys on the block. He was a very relaxed little guy. What a lucky boy – he has a big sister that thinks he’s pretty cool (which from what I’m told is most of the time), and the nicest parents. I hope I have the privilege to see him and his big sister again soon. Maybe big sister E will give me a concert on her fantastic itty bitty toy piano.

Somehow I am lucky enough to have amazing friends, two of whom recently had their first little one. Little baby S decided that instead of waiting so mom and dad could have one last date night before her arrival, she would surprise them and make her grand entrance early. Such a good-natured little gal, I was lucky enough to have some cuddles.

Isn’t this the cutest winter-loving family ever? I had a blast spending time with my buddies, the A family, a couple of weeks before Christmas. We were lucky since it was one of the few days that wasn’t minus a billion outside. We even had some squirrels in the forest dump snow on our heads!
